Tinsel - D1 - Twenty-two - Romola Garai - Open

Somebody please hear this song,
Squeeze time and night by a plastic bombshell bomb,
Let it be soon, this impending doom

One.

Tinsel can’t wait for time here to end. She can’t wait for the Capitol to figure out just how to punch holes through the ground and destroy District Thirteen. It doesn’t matter if she’s still inside.
She wants them all dead.

Glimmer. Beautiful, sweet Glim. Her baby sister. They killed her. The Mockingjay and the hijacked boy. They murdered her baby sister. Tinsel watched it happen. And she’d do anything to see them die a slow and painful death. Including sacrificing her own life to see it happen.

It’s not that Tinsel is entirely fond of the Capitol. It was their Games her sister died in, after all. But she understands them and their motives, which is more than she can say for the rebels. Besides, it wasn’t the Capitol who dropped a tracker-jacker nest on her sister. Tinsel will never forget  the body that came back home for burial. Even after all the Capitol could do to restore Glimmer to her original beauty, she was scarred and swollen and disfigured.

Despite her indifference to the Capitol, Tinsel is not above working for them for her own benefit. She’s a Capitol spy, faking an entire history of wrongs done by the Capitol, leading to her escape. She sends sensitive information from Thirteen to the Capitol whenever she can, and is hoping to be the reason for the District’s real destruction. But first, she has to be the actress she knows she can be.

No one knows who she is. She was never interviewed during Glimmer’s Games, always kept a low profile. Still, she can’t seem to get the leaders of this revolution to trust her. And trust is a key piece in her game. She needs them to trust her, needs them to talk freely in front of her. One chink in their armor, one weakness, and Tinsel knows she can find her way in. She’s pretty and charming and a brilliant liar. There’s no reason in the world that she won’t succeed.
Except, maybe, one. A strong, broad-shouldered miner from District Twelve has caught her eye. He can either delay or speed her betrayal simply by accepting or refusing her.

Because Tinsel is nothing if not mercurial.

Two.

Tinsel and Glimmer are the daughters of two of Panem’s finest jewelry designers. Their designs have been seen everywhere, from a simple rose pin bought by the President to decorations in the Tribute parade. Their family was very well off, never wanting for anything. Tinsel was spoiled, given anything she wanted the moment she asked for it. She spent her time going to the Capitol for parties and other events, as well as hosting events of her own back home in District One. She despises District Thirteen - its shabbiness, the lack of good food, the gray clothes. The sooner she can get out of this place, the better.

Tinsel does not yet know of the sabotaged tracks or the plot to kidnap the Tributes. If she ever does learn of it, it will only be a matter of time before the Capitol is alerted, and the whole plan blown to smithereens.

That being said, more people should come join us….there’s plenty of open characters, and more on the way!

Strange Things Did Happen: AU Hunger Games RPG - Now Open!

No one expected illness to strike District Thirteen again. Not this strongly, and certainly not so soon. But it did. And it wiped out many of the most influential people, all of whom were working in such close quarters. It really shouldn’t be a surprise that the illness spread so quickly.

Coin is dead. Plutarch is dead. And so are many others. And the attack against the Capitol was a failure. Though the firebombs did a number on the Capitol, it still stands.

And so does Snow.

The rebellion is floundering, desperately needing new leadership. There are only a few people who have the ability to step up to the job: Katniss Everdeen, Gale Hawthorne, and Haymitch Abernathy. They are struggling to keep the rebellion functioning, desperately trying to free Panem from the tyranny of President Snow and the Capitol.

Following the failed attack against The Capitol, the government took into its custody some key pieces. Madge Undersee, the daughter of District Twelve’s mayor, was presumed dead. Unknown to the rest of the world, she and her father were pulled from the wreckage of District Twelve only barely alive. Interviewed and tortured, they were kept by the Capitol.

Madge Undersee shared a cell with young Primrose Everdeen, who had been pulled from the firebombing. The Capitol wasted no time in letting the rebels know just who they had in their clutches. It took a year to rescue them, putting a delay in the workings of the rebellion.

Now, the real work must begin.

Meanwhile, the Capitol is up to its usual tricks. The Seventy-Sixth Hunger Games are set to take place. Tributes have already been chosen and are on their way to the Capitol. Little do they know, their trains are bound to be intercepted. The rebels have destroyed sections of track, and plan on kidnapping the young tributes.

Bannock Mellark - D12 - Twenty-three - Andrew Garfield - Open

Cold is the water
It freezes your already cold mind
Already cold, cold mind
And death is at your doorstep
And it will steal your innocence
But it will not steal your substance

One

Bannock Mellark has always been something of a black sheep. He even looked different - his brothers were the big, strong ones. He was always wiry, though he at least grew out of the scrawny stage of his school years. Perhaps he was fortunate…his size and quieter nature made it easier to evade his mother’s abuses. Witty, observant, and clever, Bannock learned quickly what made home so strange: his mother’s unhappiness in a marriage to a man who loved another woman, though he would never have her. And his father, who preferred to turn aside rather than notice facts he didn’t like. While his father was the kinder of his parents, Bannock rather despised him. The man could have done so much, could have made sure the family ate more than stale bread, or prevented his wife’s blows from landing on his sons.

But he never did.

So Bannock watched, helpless and weak and hating himself for both, as his mother’s temper exploded time and again, and her fists flew. Peeta walked about with a black eye for weeks. Rye’s nose streamed blood. Bannock himself wasn’t fortunate enough to evade all blows, but he was lucky enough to catch only the glancing ones. His build made him more suited to the project of delivering orders  to the bakery patrons - a job which took him away from his mother for most of the day. In the compartively blessed quiet of District Twelve’s streets, Bannock was free. He took his time coming back from delivery runs, knowing what awaited him when he came back.

Bannock was never particularly close to any of his family, even his brothers. He loved them in his own way, but some mental and emotional detatchment from them kept him at arm’s length. Peeta and Rye got along famously, of course, and though they loved Bannock, he knew they thought him odd. When Peeta was reaped, two brothers stood by. By that point, Rye was too old to volunteer. Bannock knew he would have, if the time had come any sooner. And Bannock…Bannock knew there was no point. He knew how his brother felt about Katniss Everdeen, for one thing, and knew also that, between the two of them, Peeta had the better chance of survival.

When District Twelve was destroyed, Bannock was found wandering the flaming streets, his hair burned off in patches and his clothes on fire. Someone, he never knew who, found him and put the flames out, dragging him to safety and the other survivors.

His parents and brother weren’t there. He would never know what happened to them, but they weren’t in the woods.

When someone told him that the bakery was now nothing more than a heap of rubble, he knew he would never see his parents or Rye again.

Bannock is a curios young man. Though he doesn’t seem to feel much, or think very highly of anyone, he has the same kindness of Peeta…just hidden beneath an icy exterior. Life has toughened what might once have been a natural-born gentleman. Whether or not District Thirteen will change him, no one can really know. But if it can slowly pull Annie Cresta back from madness, surely it can break through to Bannock.

Two

Bannock and Peeta get along, but only just. The Capitol hijacked certain memories of home life. Now, most of what Peeta remembers of his brother are the fact that he didn’t so much as try to volunteer, and the feeling of being abandoned by his older brother to his mother’s blows. Though Peeta has sorted through these memories, the sense of betrayal remains, making it difficult for the young men to communicate.

This has only caused Bannock to throw up more walls between him and his brother. It hurts to be reminded of his past failings, and he doesn’t wish to expose old wounds any further. To compensate for this, he throws himself into the rebellion with a vigor no one expected. Because, while he can’t fight like the others, he has proven himself surprisingly adept with the technology. He is a fast learner, and a favorite of Beetee. Bannock helps the older man with the propos, hacking into Capitol systems to broadcast images of the Mockingjay. It was Bannock who found and provided the maps of the Capitol rails which allowed the rebels to destroy key sections of track.

Bannock doesn’t have true friends - he spends too much time locked up with his work. But he’s polite and charming, and has plenty of acquaintances. The one person who is a constant presence in his life is Delly Cartwright, the girl from home who strangely doesn’t seem to have lost her smile.
